Successful de-horning on Balule Private Nature Reserve, Nov 2020

A week ago camera trap footage on the reserve showed wire attached to her back leg and this was obviously causing discomfort, so we had to investigate. It was a huge challenge finding her, as the bush is so thick after good rains. On examination the snare seemed to have been dislodged, but the wound was successfully treated. Thankfully a happy ending!

The Gogos (Grannies) attend a de-horning, Nov 2020

Rhino Revolution’s Pangolin Protection Programme, Oct 2020

Rescuing, rehabilitating and releasing individual animals is only one part of the solution to protect pangolins. Rhino Revolution believes it is critical to work in a more holistic, collaborative way. Therefore, we are also working closely with anti-poaching, education and community outreach specialists in the Hoedspruit area - so we can all learn, share best practice, and understand who the key influencers are.
Rhino Revolution invited a group of gogos (African grandmothers) to join a successful dehorning operation on Balule Nature Reserve. For these community matriarchs, this was their first time on a reserve and their first time to see a rhino, despite living close to the reserve boundaries.
